Oldest Freshwater Bass Tournament in the Country New Orleans City Park Big Bass Rodeo The New Orleans’ City Park Big Bass Rodeo is the oldest freshwater
fishing contest in the United States. Started as a celebration of the
end of World War II, the rodeo will hold the 59th annual Big Bass Rodeo
on March 20, 2004. Bait casting reels, spinning reels, and fly rod
categories are several ways a participant can win a prize. A Bream
Busting division is open for children up to 15 years of age. Live music,
exhibitors, and a B.A.S.S. CastingKids contest are some of the fun
found at the rodeo. A plaque and bragging rights come with the biggest bass of the rodeo. For more information on entering the rodeo or sponsor information,
